TOPS Mini Tanimboca Puukko

The TOPS Mini Tanimboca Puukko is a nice fixed knife, based on the traditional Finnish Puukko. This is the mini version: a perfect companion for the normal Tanimboca Puukko. The Mini Tanimboca Puukko is a type of fusion between the Finnish knife tradition and the knives that are used in the Colombian jungle. Designer Goran Mihajlovis comes from Serbia, grew up in Germany, but has been living in the Colombian jungle for 20 years now. He took the basic shape and features of the traditional Puukko and combined it with his own style. TOPS turned this into a production knife. The blade is made from 1095-carbon steel. With a razor-sharp edge: a primary scandi grind with a subtle convex edge which is easy to sharpen. 1095 is not completely stainless, keep that in mind. Clean the blade after use and occasionally add a drop of oil: that’s it! The advantage of this type of steel is that it won’t easily break and is tough. In addition, you can easily sharpen 1095. The spine of the blade is also sharpened. Not a straight edge, but the edges are sharpened to make scraping a little easier. Think of tinder, or scraping a firesteel. Even though it is custom for a real Puukko, this Tanimboca Mini Puukko is not enhanced with a finger groove. The handle is moves straightly towards the edge. This enables you to get closer to the edge, for a little more control. The micarta handle offers enough grip. Micarta is comprised of linen and synthetic resin. The fibres expand when wet giving you even more grip. A great material for outdoor knives. You can carry the TOPS Mini Tanimboca Puukko in the leather sheath.
